Cadence is built to be private by default. The free tier works entirely on your device with no account and no data sent anywhere. This policy explains what changes when you use optional features like Cadence Pro (sync and shared groups) and photo attachments.
Free tier — on-device only
Your tasks, completion history, notes, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database. No account is required, and this data is not transmitted to us or anyone else. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device.
Cadence Pro — sync & groups
If you sign in and subscribe to Cadence Pro, the following is stored on our backend (hosted by Supabase) so it can sync across your devices and be shared with groups you create or join:
- Account identity. You sign in with Sign in with Apple. We receive a unique Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and an email address (which may be a private Apple relay address). We do not receive your Apple password.
- Your tasks & completion history (titles, intervals, notes, durations, completion timestamps, and the display name you set).
- Group data. If you create or join a shared group, the group's tasks and completion history are visible to the members of that group.
- Subscription status. We store whether your subscription is active (received from Apple), so we know whether to enable Pro features. Payments are processed by Apple — we never see your payment details.
Access to your data is enforced per-user at the database level: you can only read and write your own rows (and the rows of groups you belong to).
Photos
Photos you attach to a completion are stored in your own private iCloud (CloudKit) account — not on our servers. We store only a reference so the app can display them on your devices.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no selling or sharing of your data.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
- No access to your contacts, location, or microphone.
Service providers
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, in-app purchases (StoreKit), iCloud/CloudKit photo storage, and subscription status notifications.
- Supabase — database, authentication, and serverless functions that store the synced data described above.
Data retention & deletion
You can delete tasks at any time in the app. To delete your account and all associated synced data, email us at the address below and we'll remove it. Deleting the app removes the on-device (free-tier) data; photos can be removed from your iCloud account.
Children
Cadence is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
